A New Chapter Begins: Our Journey to The Close

Hello from Adam and Sara!

We can hardly believe we're writing this, but it's true: we are now the caretakers of The Close, and our hearts are overflowing with gratitude and excitement!

For more than 20 years, The Close has been our sanctuary. We've walked these grounds as retreatants countless times, seeking God's voice in the quiet, finding rest for our weary souls, and experiencing the kind of deep spiritual renewal that only happens when you truly step away from the noise of everyday life. This place has been woven into the fabric of our faith journey, and now we have the incredible privilege of opening its doors to others.

Our Family

We're blessed to have two adult sons, Kal Justus and Kamden, who have also experienced the gift of this sacred space over the years. They've grown up knowing The Close as a place where God meets His people in powerful ways, and they share our excitement about this new chapter. Our family understands firsthand what it means to need a place of retreat, and that understanding will shape everything we do here.

From Retreatants to Caretakers

The transition from guests to caretakers feels both humbling and natural. We know what it's like to arrive at The Close carrying heavy burdens, difficult questions, or simply bone-deep exhaustion. We've sat in these same rooms seeking clarity, walked these paths in prayer, and experienced breakthrough moments that changed the trajectory of our lives. That perspective—of having been in your shoes—is something we bring to this calling.

We're not just managing a property; we're stewarding a holy space that has ministered to us personally for two decades. We know the value of the silence, the importance of the details that create an atmosphere of peace, and the sacred trust of providing a place where people can encounter God without distraction.

Ready and Excited

Are we ready? Absolutely. Are we excited? Beyond words! We've spent years preparing for this moment, even when we didn't fully realize that's what God was doing. Every retreat we've taken here, every quiet conversation we've had on these grounds, every prayer we've prayed in these rooms—it was all preparing us to now serve others in the same way we've been served.

We want you to know that whether you're a first-time visitor or a longtime friend of The Close, you're welcome here. We understand what you're looking for because we've been looking for it ourselves. We know what it means to need a refuge, and we're honored to provide that for you.

Come and See

If you've never been to The Close, we invite you to experience what has transformed our lives over the past 20 years. If you're a returning guest, we can't wait to welcome you back and serve you in this new capacity. Either way, know that we're praying for you even before you arrive, because we believe God brings people here for a reason.

This isn't just a job for us—it's a ministry, and in many ways, a homecoming. We're ready to go, and we hope to see you soon.

With grateful hearts,

Adam and Sara Colter
