What We Do

The Close Retreat Center welcomes you to a serene Christian sanctuary devoted to contemplation, worship, study, and rejuvenation for individuals and small groups alike. Nestled on a picturesque peninsula overlooking the breathtaking Rockcastle River Gorge along Kentucky Highway 192, it’s conveniently located between London, Corbin, and Somerset, KY, near the tranquil Laurel Lake Dam. Here, you are enveloped in the beauty of nature, with easy walking trails meandering through vibrant meadows and lush forests, as well as more challenging hiking paths that lead you down into the stunning gorge. Embark on an adventure and find connections to the renowned Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail. Whether you seek solitude with Our Lord or wish to marvel at the gorge's beauty, the native plants, and the wildlife, the retreat offers an abundance of opportunities for reflection and connection.

**Governing Philosophy**

At The Close Retreat Center, we aim to offer a tranquil, private adult retreat experience, distinct from typical conference environments. Although we can host up to twenty-five guests, our true delight lies in welcoming one or two individuals seeking a serene, restorative retreat.

This sacred space is dedicated to prayer and reflection, preserving its role as a sanctuary rather than a location for secular conferences or events. Nature retreats are a sincere exception, as they honor the beauty of God’s creation. We warmly invite individuals from all Christian denominations but, sadly, cannot accommodate religions outside of Christianity or groups classified as cults. In our commitment to simplicity, we believe that even an individual retreat embodies the spirit of contemplation, regardless of personal beliefs.

Our Mission

The close is a Christ-Centered, quiet place where individuals and small groups can retreat from the outside world and experience the love of God. Our mission is to warmly welcome fellow believers to find rest, encouragement, transformation, and guidance in the beauty of nature with God.

“The Close is a wonderful place to relax and get in contact with your inner self and with God. The love and peace seem to just flow through the valley.”
